Stopped at Rudy's to grab sandwiches to-go for four and so happy we did. Great for a beach sandwiches! The Philly cheesesteak was delicious the meat was sooooo flavorful (thankfully not overly salted or peppered like another reviewer below might prefer), tender and prepared perfectly. Super fresh bread. Don't worry about the reference to "marinara sauce" in the menu Description of the philly sandwich. It's served on the side. For me, I'd tell them not to include the sauce next time. The sandwich is perfect as it comes. Don't compare this to Pats or Gino's and just enjoy this for a great and tasty sandwich. Others in my group got roast beef, Italian sub, and tuna. All were happy. All sandwiches were made to order and fast! PIE! Be sure to get the pie of the day. One of the owners makes the pies. We had coconut cream pie and it was outstanding. From what I hear, all of her pies are fantastic. We never order dessert, especially at lunch but I read online before we went to Rudy's that they'd won a pie contest... So we got two slices to share. We wished we had ordered a slice per person! The woman that took our order was fun and kept telling us we were ordering well and making good choices. Cute. We talked with both of the owners and got their recommendations for other restaurants on AMI. They were super friendly and helpful. I would guess that these are the types of people who would be all-business unless you engage them. So for those other reviewers who found them to be unfriendly ... you get what you give. As locals came in, they greeted them by name and knew everyone's order. Cool ladies!

This place is great I love the meatball sub. The soup is great and my son Will loves to go there for lunch. One of the best values on the island.

Love this place! The best subs on the island. The Philly Cheese Steak and the Italian are my favorite. Sally and Julie (Owners) are always friendly, attentive and just all around great ladies. If you're lucky enough to get a piece of their Chocolate Pie you will not be disappointed. Very yummy!

A true local hangout on Anna Maria Island. There take on sandwiches is unique and quite yummy. I'm a south philly boy and I enjoy their cheese steak...yes I admit it! They actually have great breakfast sandwiches as well. I believe they are one of the few places in Florida to win cleanest facilities. All in all...the prices are right and the atmosphere is better.

I had a hard time choosing from the Philly Cheese Steak with the peppers or the French Dip... Well, the French Dip high maintenance with shrooms and their peppers is the bomb. Now it's my favorite sub. It beats the Philly hands down with the peppers and veggies added. Yum! Meatball sub is always a hit. My youngest said it was the best subs place in the world. Toasted or fresh subs anyway you want it. My wife always gets the Italian toasted with oil and vinegar. We need to save space for the winning pies!

We found this place with the help of my iPad and Yelp. It's small and kind of funky and old timey. Obviously loved by locals and owners/cooks alike. We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the crew of three get everything done with no confusion and with good humor. My husband is never one to rave over food--but he said "that was a really really good sandwich" about our club sub. (lightly toasted and delicious). We were watching others go for the blueberry pie which was finished off before we could order, but the fresh "Plant City" strawberry pie was highly recommended, so we tried it. We were close to closing time so I think that's why we got an extra big slice. It was sooo good. If we lived close, or were vacationing nearby, we'd certainly be there regularly. Excellent. Don't pass it by.

This is the gem of the entire island! Folks are really friendly, food is amazing, and you can walk to the beach. We split a 12" cheese steak and it was plenty for the 2 of us. If they've got it... try the coconut cream pie, it is awesome...home made crust.

My wife and I visited the island to go to the beach. I researched places to eat nearby Rudys came in with high marks, so we decided to try it out. Based on other reviews we ordered a steak and cheese sub. OMG, it was the best steak and cheese I had in my life. We also tried a cream cheese cup cake and peanut butter cookie and both were delisious! I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for great sandwich. Lastly, the owners do the cooking and work the counter and are terrific!

If the aromas don't sell you then nothing will. I entered and the aroma was totally awesome. That would be worth the price of admission in itself. The wait was a one beer wait on 4 subs. They have a homemade pepper relish which is very good addition to the sub. The people were friendly, and courteous. The beer cold...and offered when we were done ordering the sandwiches. This place is only open until around 3 pm. Great place for lunch.

Rudy's was delicious! We stopped in on a drizzly day in December and loved the simple but nostalgic atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches. The French Dip is too die for with its lightly crisped French bread. Everything exceeded our expectations. The proprietors were lovely. They made us feel as if we'd been there hundreds of times.

While vacationing, hubs was looking for a good place to eat. And came across Rudy's on Yelp. It got great reviews, and since I pretty much love anything sandwich or sub related, we felt we had to try it. We pull up to a little restaurant, with parking in front, and go inside. It is equally small inside, with maybe about 5 tables to sit at. We decided to take our subs to go, and we ate back at our rental house. I had looked at the menu online first, but was unsure of what came on the Turkey sub, so I asked. When I did, the woman taking our order, gave me a menu, and on the bottom, it had a little sentence that said "All subs come with: lettuce, tomato, onion, etc" (I don't remember all the fixin's that come standard, but it answered my question.) The menu she handed me looked like the one online, but with that added to the bottom. I couldn't decide between the turkey and the italian, and I voiced my conundrum out loud. The woman said the spices and all the things that come on the sub, taste way better on an Italian, so I asked if I could get turkey on my italian, and she said it was no problem and that it was a good choice. I also didn't get any cheese on mine, as I have an aversion to many types of cheese. They made our subs and while they were doing that they asked if we had been there before, and I said no, but the reviews were great, so we had to check it out. She asked what reviews and I told her on Yelp, people seemed to really like this place. She nodded and smiled, seemingly flattered. She asked if I wanted to try dessert, and I remember reading a review about the homemade pie, so I gave it a whirl. I tried the banana cream pie. The two ladies (who I assume are the owners) were entertaining. You can see your food being made right in front of you. Hubs got a philly cheese steak. He got the 6" and felt like he wanted more, and wished he gotten a larger size. Marinara sauce came on the side and he tried it, thinking it was a thing for this area, or that is their take on a philly cheese steak, but he didn't really feel it added anything to it. He said if he ordered it again, he wouldn't put the marinara sauce on it. I enjoyed my italian with turkey. :-) The only compliant I have is that while toasting it, it kind of left the edges of my sub burnt. It happened to hubs sub as well. But other than that, the meat was fresh, the toppings were good, and the homemade pepper relish was really good. It had a bit of a kick to it, but it was yummy. I got the 6" as well, and I felt it just was too small. I probably would have been better off with the 8". We also got a 6" plain ham and cheese sub for our toddler who wouldn't touch it. (But he also could win the Pickiest Eater of the Year Award). Hubs and I split the piece of pie. It was definitely fresh, like it was just made within a couple days. There were chunks of banana in it and the crust was really good. I kind of wish I would have gotten a slice of the banana cream and the coconut cream (the other offering that day) so I could have tried both. If we ever go back to Anna Maria Island, we will make a stop here.

Great cold subs! The house dressing they use is fantastic. Easy to pick up and walk them down to the each for lunch. Their footlong will feed 2 for sure!

Highly recommend this pit stop when hitting Pine Ave. friendly service, fast orders and comfy confines. Good with kids too. The Philly cheesesteaks are delicious and fresh. The bread - you'll love it!

Just got back from a beach vacation to Anna Maria and was so glad I found Rudy's...I love a good sandwich. I went twice while I was there and tried the Cheesesteak and Turkey Sub and both were awesome. Bread is great...soft and fresh, always the sign of a good sandwich. The Cheesesteak had great flavor and was nice and cheesy...just the way I like it. The Turkey was fresh and they had a great Oil/Spice blend that was delicious. I would highly recommend this place and will for sure be back!

We came here yesterday for lunch and had a great meal in between beach time!! We took a seat at an outside table and the weather was just perfect for it!! A cool breeze while we sipped on our coronas. The ladies there were sooo nice and friendly and very attentive! I enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak salad and my friends had the the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and the French dip. They both loved it! But the highlight of the meal was the chocolate cream pie and coconut cream pie!! A nice big hunk is served to you!! Dessert at lunch may seem like a crazy concept but you'll be crazy not to do this!! Homemade and DEE-LISH!! I'm hoping to come back to AMI in March and Rudy's will be one of my first stops!!

Been to Anna Maria about 4 times now, this was my first trip to Rudy's. Went to Rudy's on a Tuesday for lunch since they were closed on Monday. I had the French Dip sandwich. It was excellent. Roll was nicely toasted and the au jus was flavorful without being overly salty. Staff were very friendly.

We love this place: great subs (try the Philly Cheese Steak or the Tuna Salad). Grab lunch here, soak up the laid back and friendly atmosphere and then head straight back to the beach.

NO STARS! I was out for a run and needed a lavatory, I saw the very large "restroom for customers only" sign and that's a great idea, except there's no state or federal code to back it up! I usually have money on me for just such an emergency and i was thirsty & would have loved a beverage. But upon exiting the restroom I was asked if I could' get some help'. I replied I would but had no money, and was greeted with wonderful sarcasm 'thanks for using our bathroom' and the fifty mile stare. Now I'm definitely NOT GOING BACK! Can't imagine why @ 9am it had two customers. I realize I wasn't a customer but wonder if there customer service is any indication of the revenue stream in a vacation community! what's with the Wisconsin flag?

This place must either be reviewed by 'regulars' or friends of the establishment, because it was really not that good. I am particularly annoyed with their claim that they have a 'famous' cheese steak. Like most places that have overly grandiose claims such as this, the product did not even come close to the claim. We went in on our first day to the island because we saw their flyer for the supposed famous cheese steak. Being that I am from New York, and have been to Philly multiple times, I couldn't wait to have it. Holy cow...it wasn't even remotely close to a good cheese steak--it was below average at best, and here is why. Food: First, I don't understand why people forget that things need to be seasoned. One of the basic, and fundamental principles of cooking is understanding how to use salt and pepper. The meat in the cheese steak was tender, and cooked properly, but wasn't seasoned at all. Now, when I say wasn't seasoned at all, I literally mean just that. I watched the cook throw some steak on the grill, mix in some mushrooms, and melt some cheese. That was it. Well damn, if I had known you were going to do that, I would have stopped by a local grocery store, picked up the ingredients for a cheese steak, hired a bum off the side of the road, and asked him/her to make me one because I'd be willing to bet, that even he/she would have used salt or pepper. Ok, with the exception of the flavorless steak, the cheese was not bold enough to make-up for the flavorless steak. The two shinning stars of this sandwich were the roll, and the pepper relish that they allegedly make in-house. The bun was soft, flavorful, and perfect for a cheese steak. The pepper relish was also excellent. It had great flavor, medium heat, and was truly a nice addition to the steak. With all of that said though, not even these two great components could take this cheese steak to anything but 2 stars. Food: 2 / 5 Service: The service was your basic mediocre experience. I believe I was served by the owners, but they were very ho-hum about everything and didn;t seem as if they wanted to be there. I am going to be more harsh than usual, because it is unacceptable to own a business in the SERVICE industry and act like you don;t want to be there. If you have lost your passion for cooking mediocre food, maybe you should close and let a real restaurant some in and cook quality food--all the while providing at least good customer service. I am just tired of business owners not giving a damn about their customers. If I owned my own business--especially a small business--I would at least thank my patrons for coming in. I would probably also at least try and smile once. Service: 2 / 5 Atmosphere: The interior has a dive-y sort of thing going for it, but it isn't anything I enjoyed. It wasn't nostalgic/dive-y, it wasn't retro/dive-y, it wasn't even unique/dive-y--it was lazy/dive-y. What does that mean? I can't really define it besides calling it 'uninspired, and boring'. Atmosphere: 2 / 5 Price: For what I got, which was an under-seasoned piece of chopped meat on a roll--it was not a good value. Price: 2 / 5 Final Thoughts: I am going to leave you with the following: You can do so much better than here...

We visit AMI twice a year for seven days per visit and plan each trip around eating at Rudy's. The kids love the meatball sandwich and club sandwich. My wife thinks the philly cheese steak in a bowl is to die for. I always eat the Italian. The bread is fantastic. The two ladies are charming, funny, and very welcoming. We highly recommend this restaurant.
